Mrs. Doye Coursey Gray, age 81, of Lyons, died Tuesday, September 6, 2016 in the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah, after a brief illness.  She was a native of Toombs County, and lived in Lyons most of her life.  Earlier in life, she worked at Belk, Piggly Wiggly Southern, Rose Bud Manufacturing, and retired as a bookkeeper from Toombs County Manufacturing.  She was a member of the Lyons Freewill Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Gray; a son, Bill Bacon; parents, Ben and Louella Coursey; and eleven siblings.

Mrs. Gray is survived by two children, Bob Bacon and wife Joni of Guyton, and Susan Gray Copeland and husband Kevin of the South Thompson Community; one sister, Mary Coursey Wood of Virginia; seven grandchildren, Chris Bacon and wife Donna, Bradley Bacon and wife Roxy, Carson Bacon, Heather Bell and husband Chris, Dusty Copeland and wife Fran, Jody Rollins, and Jennifer Rollins Kight; eleven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, including a niece, Lou Pitts and husband Jimmy of Brunswick.

The funeral service will be held Friday, September 9th at 12:00 Noon in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Wilson officiating.  Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday morning from 10:00 until just prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lyons Freewill Baptist Church, P.O. 438, Lyons GA 30436.
