Wayne, Skip, and Family,
The service was a beautiful tribute to a beautiful lady. I can remember the first time I ever saw her. It was at a shower at Tyra Vaughn's house. She had that jet black hair that was just perfect, and I thought she was the prettiest thing I'd ever looked at. She was always just as sweet as she was pretty. When I came home from the service, Andrew and I began putting up Christmas decorations. Everything I touched reminded me of her because it came from Smith's Hardware. A few tears fell as I felt her presence. I don't know what I would have done over the years without her to "fix me up" with wedding gifts and birthday gifts. How wonderful to be able to shop over the phone and get the perfect gift. My boys thought there were two places to shop in town...Page's and Smith's Hardware. Once when Alexander was just a tiny fellow, someone asked him where he got his cute little nose. He replied, "Smiff's Hardware!" I would pull up in front of the store and let him and Andrew out. They'd go in and Miss Sammie and Miss Barbara would help them find the perfect gift for their Mommy. Only in a small town can you make memories like that. When Barbara got sick, I promised her over and over that it was going to be okay. Things didn't turn out as I prayed, but they did indeed turn out okay. She fought a tough battle and graciously reached up and touched the hem of His garment in His perfect timing. We will miss her so, but are so thankful that she will suffer no more. Our hearts and lives are richer for having known Barbara Smith.

So saddened to hear of the loss of Mrs. Barbara. She is one of my fondest memories from the time I lived in Lyons. I could not have asked for more kindness than I received from her, Wayne and Mrs. Sammie. My heart goes out to Wayne and her family. Lyons has lost a great citizen and woman, who was smart, and worked hard for her family, church and town. She set the perfect example for so many women. Such an amazing lady! I know she will be missed.

Miss Barbara will be missed, but she is not suffering anymore. She was a sweet lady and helpful to anyone she could. All I had to do is go in the store and tell her what I needed and she would fix me right up. Know that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers. We are as close as the phone if you need us.
