Mr. Talmadge F. Joyner, age 83, of Lyons, died Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at his home, after an extended illness. He was a native of the Ohoopee Community, and lived in Lyons most of his life. He retired after twenty years of service from the U.S. Army in 1973, was a machinist at Georgia Machine for many years, and was former owner of Bill’s Donuts. He was a member of the Marietta Free Will Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn C. Joyner; two sons, James Lloyd Joyner and Robert Mitchell Joyner; one sister, Rosa Soley; and four brothers, Clarence Joyner, Bill Joyner, Dennis Joyner, and an infant brother, William Joyner.
Mr. Joyner is survived by three children, Wanda Sue Kersey and husband Elton of Vidalia; Thomas “Tommy” Joyner and Linda Ann Joyner, both of Lyons; one brother, Charles Joyner of Augusta; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 13th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Irvin Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in the Lyons City Cemetery with Military Honors.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
