Mrs. Mollie Burke Sowell, age 68, of Vidalia, died Thursday, August 27, 2015 in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after an extended illness.  She was a native of the Cedar Crossing Community, and lived most of her life in Vidalia.  She was a 1964 graduate of Toombs Central High School, a licensed cosmetologist, and a licensed agent with Sowell Insurance Agency.  She was an active and lifetime member of the Smyrna United Methodist Church.  Mollie was kind and generous to others, especially to children.  She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Edcar Burke; and a brother, Gary Edcar Burke.

Mrs. Sowell is survived by her husband, Jerry Sowell of Vidalia; two children, Scott Sowell and wife Betty of Vidalia, and Leigh Ann Sowell of Douglasville; her mother, Elise Burke of Vidalia; one brother, Benny Burke and wife Alexia of Cedar Crossing; three grandchildren, Victoria Staten and husband Justin of Lake Park, Bryson Sowell and Dylon Harden of Vidalia; one great-granddaughter, Kyleigh Staten of Lake Park; several nieces and nephews; and her sister-in-law and best friend, Connie Sowell, with thanks for her love and devotion.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 29th at 10:00 a.m. in the Smyrna United Methodist Church with Pastor Chad Watkins, Reverend John Stephens, and Reverend Fred Foster officiating.  Entombment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00.
