Mr. Malton Purser, age 74, of Vidalia, died Thursday, September 29, 2016 at his home, after a sudden illness.  He was a native of Cochran, was a 1960 graduate of Cochran High School, and earned an Associate’s degree from Middle Georgia College.  He was Past President of the Cochran Lions Club, and a former member and Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Cochran, and Tabernacle Baptist Church in Vidalia.  He was a member and former Elder of the Trinity Baptist Church in Vidalia.  He moved to Vidalia in 1974, and retired as District Manager from Piggly Wiggly Southern after thirty-four years of service.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Mittie Yearty Purser; and a sister, Gayle Bryant.

Mr. Purser is survived by his wife, Wrella Purser of Vidalia; three children, Wendi P. Copeland of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Clint Purser and wife Lynn of Brunswick, and Dena Morris and husband Robert of Gray; one brother, Larry Purser and wife Shirley of Cochran, three grandchildren, Brett Copeland and wife Bethany of Kathleen, Brandon Morris and wife Marianna of Milledgeville, and Martie Roberts and husband Colton of Columbia, South Carolina; two great grandchildren, Noah Copeland and Luke Copeland; a great-grandchild to be born in October, Julia Morris; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Trinity Baptist Church with Reverend Chris Vinson and Donnie Conner officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
