Vidalia,

Mrs. Flossie Wingard, age 78, of Vidalia, died Wednesday, January 27, 2016 in the Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia, after an extended illness.  She lived most of her life in Luverne, Alabama before moving to Toombs County in 1971.  She was a homemaker and Baptist by faith.  She was a loving mother and grandmother.  She was preceded in death by her husband, T.B. Wingard; two sons, Jimmy Wingard and Rex Wingard; grandson, Thomas Wingard; parents, Tom and Mary Elizabeth Leightin Walker; one brother, Gene Walker; and two sisters, Sybil Rogers and Nora Petty.

Mrs. Wingard is survived by six children, Polly Day and husband Wayne of Vidalia, Hugh Wingard and wife Kathy of the South Thompson Community, Gerald Wingard of Vidalia, Janice Wingard of Alabama, Faye Wingard Grissett of Soperton, and Danny Varden of Turnersville, Alabama; two sisters, Mary “Pete” Sorrells of Greenville, Alabama, and Ora Lee Miles of Troy, Alabama; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 30th at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Plowman officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mt. Shady Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
