Mrs. Emma M. Wells Palmer, age 93, of the Ruth’s Chapel Community, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017, in the Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia, after an extended illness.  She was a native of Montgomery County, and lived there all of her life.  She retired from Oxford Industries in Vidalia after thirty-four years, and was an active member of the Ruth’s Chapel United Methodist Church.  She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. “Bill” Palmer; parents, Richard Pierson Hobson Wells and Mary Emma McBride Wells; her twin sister, Mary Mac Wells; and a brother, W.F. “Mokie” Wells.

Mrs. Palmer is survived by her son, William P. “Billy” Palmer of the Ruth’s Chapel Community; two grandsons, Heath Palmer and wife Donna, and Todd Palmer and Jessica Vaughn, all of Vidalia; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Palmer of Vidalia, and Lula Mae Wells of Dublin; one brother-in-law, Curt Palmer of Jacksonville, Florida; eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday, March 31st at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Bill Lee officiating.  Burial will follow in the Sharpe Cemetery near Alston.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
