Dear Anne and Carol: Please accept my sincere condolences. May your father rest in peace and may perpetual light shine upon him. Hope this poem helps, I know, I have turned to it several times for solace. Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free.
I'm following the path God has laid you see.
I took His hand when I heard Him call,
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day.
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
I found that peace at the close of the day.

If my parting has left a void, then fill
it with remembered joys.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss.
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much.
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief.
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee.
God wanted me now; He set me free!

Dear Sheila,
Thank you for your sympathy and for remembering Dad. It doesn't seem so long ago that we were exploring forest and field on horseback! He is missed.

Our deepest sympathy to Anne, Carol and the other family members. We have so many fond thoughts of June and Neill from the Richmond Hill days. Talking "Georgia/Auburn" football with Neill was always a treat. Our thoughts and prayers,

I met June and Neill Baylor when they lived in the "Strathy Hall" home in Richmond Hill. We'd stop to visit when we'd walk by, and talk about area history, the flowers, and whatever else was going on in our small town. Their sweet, giving spirits will be remembered always,...lifting prayers for family and friends,

Dear Cindy,
So many fond memories about life while living at Strathy Hall. Baylor ball was one of them but that was before your time! Thank you for your kind words and thoughts.

Anne and family, We are so saddened to hear of the death of your father. I know he was a fine gentleman and a great father and grandfather. I always enjoyed seeing him in his yard on Center Drive working and he always kept it so pretty and well groomed. We are out of town, but we did want to send our love and let you know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Leanne,
I too can remember joining in on a game of flag football many times when I was a young girl (and basketball in the gym at Richmond Hill)! So much fun to play with all ages, sizes, and genders. Dad loved sports.
Thank you for your kind words.
Blessings,

So sad to read this and to find out he had been in Dublin, all this time. Hate that I didn't go visit him. Neill was a great man, husband, father, and friend. Our thoughts and prayers to your family. Gary and Beth Odom

Dear Beth,
Had I known that you live in Dublin, I would have contacted you. Although Dad suffered from severe dementia, he never lost his kindness and civility to others as often happens. Thank you for your remembrances.
Blessings,

Message from Thomas Bryce

There was one and only one Charles Neill Baylor, Jr. who served as an ambassador for his beloved West "By God" Virginia, loved his nation, his God and His Heavenly Father's piscatorial creations! He was known amongst his friends as a loyal and passionate fan of the Georgia Bulldawgs and the Georgia Southern Eagles! For those who don't know, Neill also was a prisoner of war, captured shortly after his Anzio beach landing. But you would never know that this man suffered and sacrificed in this way! There is no doubt in my mind that the German guards at that camp developed the utmost respect for Neill! He was truly a noble and honorable gentleman who treated everyone he met with kindness, gratitude, an intelligent man's sense of humor, a hearty handshake, and a servant's heart!

I had the honor and privilege to work alongside Neill during his stent as a Biological Technician/Biologist at Fort Stewart's Fish & Wildlife Branch. He brought sunshine, laughter, camaraderie, and joy into our office everyday,

His passing leaves all of us, on this side of Heaven, saddened because we are the ones who grieve over OUR loss!

We know where he is…and he’s not sad in the least!!!!!! He’s reunited with the love of his life, June; he can speak again in that all too unique voice with that all too unique way of speaking; and he’s met up with his good friend Jack (who now stands fully upright) and they’re waist deep fishing with their ultralights in a stream that even surpasses the North Fork of the Shenandoah on its best day! I can’t wait to join them!! And together we'll be able to enjoy a fish fry on the stream banks, enjoying fresh fish and hushpuppies…and then a trip to Heaven’s 7-11 afterward for a High’s ice cream cone!!!! Maybe Peter, Andrew, James and John can teach us a few “fishing” tricks! Or maybe it will be Neill who will teach them!

I will forever miss Neill and our "Ultralight Knights" trips to the "high country"! Some of the sweetest memories in my 63 years of life! I could write a book about Neill! (As I know we all could!)

Dear Mr. Bryce,
Thank you for so eloquently expressing Dad's spirit! You knew him well.
It is so difficult to know that he has left this earth for good. No more rejoicings about chocolate fudge at Christmas, fresh caught and fried pan fish, and college football! He will be missed. Nonetheless, I know that Dad is in an inexpressibly better place with Mom and perhaps fishing and/or wading in the Lord's river-pf-life.
Carol and I hope to see you at his memorial on December 12th at 11 am at The Episcopal Church of Annunciation in Vidalia.
Blessings,
Anne B. Sweat
