Vidalia,

Mrs. Nan Wilbanks, age 66, of Vidalia, died Saturday, May 16, 2015 in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after a brief illness.  She was a native of Vidalia and moved to Athens in the mid 1960’s. While in Athens, she graduated from Athens High School and was a graduate of the University of Georgia, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.  She lived in Gaffney, South Carolina for two years and then returned to Vidalia where she lived most of her life.  She retired from the Department of Family and Children Services in Lyons after thirty years of service as a supervisor, and was currently a member of the Board of Directors.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lyons.  She attended the First United Methodist Church in Vidalia, was a member of the Cleo Auld Sunday School Class, and sang in the choir. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hudson and Mattie Fulmer.  Nan will be remembered for her loving heart.  She gave generously to all those who crossed her path.

Mrs. Wilbanks is survived by her husband, James Ellis “Jimmy” Wilbanks Jr. of Vidalia; mother-in-law, Elizabeth C. Wilbanks of Richmond Hill; sister-in-law, Jane Pressly and husband Paul of Savannah; nephew, Rob Bowden and wife JoAnne, great niece and nephew, Elizabeth Anne Bowden, and Henry Walker Bowden; numerous other nieces and nephews; and “adopted grandchildren”, Chase Moye and Zach Moye and their mother, Stephanie Moye.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 19th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Ben Martin, Reverend Robert Greene, and Reverend David Blalock officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 9:30 until just prior to the service.
