Mr. Zach Mixon, age 36, of Soperton, died Friday, January 17, 2025, in Soperton. He was a native of Toombs County, growing up in Santa Claus, he was a 2008 graduate of Montgomery County High School, and had lived in Soperton since 2012. He was a four-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp stationed in North Carolina, serving in Haiti and Djibouti, Africa. He previously worked at Montgomery and Telfair State Prisons, and currently was superintendent at Treutlen Probation Detention Center. He currently was serving on the Treutlen County Board of Education and attended Smith Street Baptist Church in Vidalia. He coached wrestling, football, and baseball at the recreation department and coached the Metter Vipers Travel Baseball Team. Zach enjoyed deer hunting, watching baseball and football, playing golf, and he was an avid Georgia football fan. He is preceded in death by his father, John William Mixon, Sr. and stepfather, Tommy Bray.
His family includes his wife, Lindsey Mixon; three children, Ella Mixon, Emree Mixon, and Brex Mixon, all of Soperton; his mother, Alta Bray of Higgston; two brothers, John William Mixon, Jr. and wife Emily of Glennville, and Nick Jones and wife Violet of Vidalia; sister-in-law, Alicia Tidwell and husband Nick of Dublin; brother-in-law, Corey Wren and wife Kristen of Rentz; mother-in-law, Kim Wren; father-in-law, Wendell Wren, both of Soperton; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00.
The funeral service will be Friday morning, January 24th, 2025, at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Chester Proctor officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Shady Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors.
