Yvonne (Stephens) Garrett

Mrs. Barbara Yvonne Stephens Garrett, age 85, of the South Thompson Community, entered into the presence of the Lord on Saturday, October 11, 2025. She was a homemaker who loved to bake, especially cakes. She also was an avid quilter with special friends on Tuesdays at South Thompson Baptist Church. She was a member of South Thompson Baptist Church and over the years had served in many things, but her heart was teaching her Sunday school class, The Sonshine Ladies.

She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years, Sherward Garrett; son, Stephen Garrett; parents, B.C. Stephens and Juanita Sharpe Stephens; and a brother, Wendell Stephens.

She is survived by one daughter, Lisa Garrett Thompson and husband Kenny; one grandson, Justin Thompson; two brothers, Roger Stephens and wife Bobbie and Jerry Stephens and wife Cathy, all of South Thompson, sister-in-law, Edith Stephens; and several nieces, nephews, quilting friends, and her church family.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday morning, October 14th, 2025, at 11:00 at South Thompson Baptist Church with her former pastors, B.L. Horne and Ron Cobb officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday morning at South Thompson from 10:00 until just prior to the service.
