Mr. William “Hippy” Beasley, age 69, of Evans County, died Friday, January 23, 2026, at his home following an extended illness. He was a native of Emanuel County, growing up near Oak Park, and has lived in Claxton most of his life. He was currently working with Sikes Brothers as a heavy equipment mechanic and had worked there for many years. He enjoyed fishing, vegetable and flower gardening, fruit trees, and taking care of his family, especially a grandson.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Brady Beasley; parents, Wesley Beasley and Evelyn Youngblood Beasley; and a daughter-in-law, Sandra Lee Dowd.
He is survived by three children, Glenn Dowd of Uvalda, Lynn Smiley and husband Bruce of Brooklet, and Shelly Powell of Athens; one sister, Loraine Beasley Murphy of Blairsville; three brothers, Wesley “Junior” Beasley of Oak Park, Elmer Beasley of Stillmore, and Harold Beasley of Oak Park; seven grandchildren, William Keith Dowd, Kasey Lanier Rogers and husband Luke, Jake Lanier, Annabelle Powell, Johnny Andrew Powell, Sara Sapp, and Joshua Dowd and wife Victoria; eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
The funeral service will be held on Monday morning, January 26, 2026, at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Beckum officiating. Interment will follow at the Oak Park City Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Dave Arnold Murphy, Cameron Beasley, Josh Dowd, Chris Beasley, Russ Wagner, Ricky Smiley, Ricky Arroyo, and Dustin Beasley.
