Mr. William H. Conley, Jr. age 77, of the Marvin Yancey Community, died Saturday, February 3, 2024, at his home, following an extended illness. He was born April 23, 1946, in Toombs County, to the late William Hansel Conley and Norma Dixon Conley. He lived in Marvin Yancey most of his life, attended Toombs Central School, and was a 1964 graduate of Reidsville High School. He worked ten years at Georgia State Prison in Reidsville, and he retired after thirty-three years from Edwin I. Hatch Plant as a lieutenant, and was security supervisor. He was a long-time member of Marvin Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, mechanicing, including the challenge of making parts that were not available anymore.
His family includes his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Linda Smith Conley of Marvin Yancey; one son, Kenneth Conley and wife Tammy of Uvalda; four grandchildren, Gayla Conley Powell and husband Dustin of Lyons, Owen Conley and wife Meagan of Nichols, Cody Wise and wife Jennifer of Douglas, and Jenniffer Kell and fiancé Matt Wilkes of Uvalda; great-grandchildren, Trint, Mason, Jada, Lake, Letty, Sidney, Savannah, Weslyn, Cally, Corbin, McKinley, and a great-grandchild to be born July 1st.
The family will receive friends at Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home on Monday evening, February 5th, from 6:00 until 8:00.
The funeral service will be Tuesday morning, February 6th, at 11:00 at Marvin Church with Pastor Michael Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Kenneth Conley, Owen Conley, Dustin Powell, Cody Wise, Eric Smith, and David Smith.
