Mr. William A. Jackson, age 72, of the Center Community, died Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia following an extended illness. He was a native of Toombs County, living in the Center Community most of his life, and he attended Lyons schools. He was a floor covering installer for several years, and was a carpenter, working with Piggly Wiggly Carpentry Shop and Harry Moses Construction. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, deer hunting, and antiques.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter L. Jackson, Sr. and Lillie Mae Cooper Jackson; and a brother, Walter “Junior” L. Jackson, Jr.
Mr. Jackson is survived by one son, Jeffrey Jackson and wife Tillie of Vidalia; two grandchildren, Hayley Hughston and husband Kyle of Lyons, and Jarrett Jackson and wife Emily of Statesboro; one great-grandson, Brady Hughston, and a great-grandson, Bryce, to be born in August; two sisters, Barbara Jackson Kilgore and husband Tom of Center, and Beverly Jackson Fowler of Lyons; one brother, Charlie Jackson of Doraville; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 at Sharpe Cemetery with Pastor Josh May officiating.
The family will receive friends at the cemetery from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
