William Colquitt Phillips, age 77, of Vidalia, Georgia, passed away peacefully on June 10th, 2020 after a brief illness, surrounded by family and friends.
William was born in Vidalia on June 11, 1942 to Willie J. Phillips and Abbie Mann Phillips. After graduating from Vidalia High School, he went on to receive his pharmacy degree from the University of Georgia. While at UGA, he met his future wife, Patricia Gordon Phillips. The couple had two children together and were happily married for over 40 years before her passing in 2009.
After receiving his pharmacy degree, William came back to Vidalia and began working as a pharmacist at Lamar’s Pharmacy. In 1972, he founded Phillips Pharmacy where he worked for 37 years until retiring in 2009.
William was preceded in death by his wife Pat, and his parents Willie J. and Abbie. He is survived by his daughter Angela Combs, and her husband Rusty; his son Gordon Phillips, and his husband Sacha; his granddaughters Emily Combs and Claire Combs; his sister Delaine Henderson, and her husband Kermit, as well as many other loving family members. He is also survived by his beloved canine companion, Buddy, to whom he loved to force feed treats and who never left his side.
William was a dedicated husband, a loving father, a doting grandfather, and a generous friend. He was a light to anyone who was lucky enough to have met him.
In light of the current situation, there will be no formal visitation. There will be a graveside service on Sunday, June 14th, at 2:00 pm at Pinecrest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you donate to the ALS Association Georgia Chapter or the National Audubon Society.
