Mr. Wesley Ward, age 53, of Vidalia, died Sunday, August 4, 2024, at Memorial Health in Savannah from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Montgomery County. He was a lifelong resident of Vidalia and a 1991 graduate of Vidalia High School. He was a meat cutter for more than twenty-six years, working at Winn Dixie and Harvey’s in Vidalia. He attended Liberty Baptist Church in Lyons and was a member of Vidalia/Lyons Moose Lodge #1281. He was known in Toombs and Montgomery Counties as a dedicated volunteer firefighter and was a member of the Southeast Georgia Honor Guard. Wesley enjoyed fishing, riding, and spending time with his great-niece, River Dawn. He is preceded in death by his father, Johnny Ward; and a great-niece, Gretchen Crystal; and a great-nephew, Ryan Ward Finnerty.
His family includes his mother, Danis Proctor Ward; one sister, Melissa Ward Finnerty, both of Vidalia; one niece, Jordan Finnerty Soto and husband Ryan; one great-niece, River Dawn Soto, all of Mt. Vernon; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00.
The funeral service will be Thursday morning, August 8th, at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Randy McDuffie officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are the Southeast Georgia Honor Guard.
Honorary pallbearers are members of local fire departments.
Flowers are welcomed, or memorial donations may be made to Vidalia, Toombs, Lyons, or Higgston Fire Departments.
