Obituary

Mr. Wallace Steven McLemore, age 65, of Vidalia, died Thursday, August 27th, 2020 after a brief illness.  Known to family and friends as “Stevie,” he was a native of Vidalia and was a 1972 graduate of Vidalia High School. He attended Middle Georgia College and subsequently attended Georgia Institute of Technology, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1976. After graduating from Georgia Tech, he began a lifelong career as a licensed professional engineer for AMEC, Inc. He retired from AMEC in 2017 as a project manager, having worked on projects around the United States and in South America. Steve was known by all for his lifelong love of music and playing the drums. He continued to play in a local rock band until his death. His two passions were music and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. He never missed a football season at Georgia Tech. He was a member of Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church of Lilburn, GA. After having lived in Atlanta for most of his career, he returned to his beloved hometown of Vidalia when he retired in 2017.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace Henry McLemore and Jean Greer McLemore. Mr. McLemore is survived by the love of his life, Anne Jiles Chase of Vidalia, and his daughter, Katherine Greer McLemore of Atlanta.  He is also survived by his two sisters: Marti McLemore Boyce and husband James of Atlanta, Georgia and his sister Emma McLemore Salzer and husband Grover of Yulee, Florida. In addition, Mr. McLemore is survived by his three nephews, Todd Boyce, Brian Boyce and Garrett Salzer of Atlanta, Georgia - and his beloved dog, Henry.

There will be a private graveside service on Sunday, August 30th.  Friends and family are invited to celebrate Steve’s well-lived life on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm at the family home. This celebration will be held outdoors with appropriate social distancing. All participants are asked to wear masks in recognition of current pandemic precautions.

Memorial contributions may be made in the name of Wallace Steven McLemore to the Georgia Tech Alumni Scholarship Fund, 190 North Ave Northwest Atlanta Georgia 30313.
