Mrs. Virginia Hopkins Hobbs, age 93, of Douglas, died Friday, February 6, 2026, at The Manor House in Douglas, following an extended illness. She was a native of Wilkes County, Georgia, and grew up near Washington, Georgia. She was a 1949 graduate of Wilkes County High School and also a graduate of cosmetology school. She moved to Vidalia in the early 1960s and was the owner of Hobbs Beauty Shop and co-owner of Winnie the Pooh Day Care. She was a member of Vidalia Old Line Primitive Baptist Church, and she enjoyed flowers and landscaping around her home.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lenton Dorsey Hobbs; three children, Evelyn Hobbs Carroll, Mike Hobbs, and Jimmy Hobbs; grandson, Jason Hobbs; parents, Lewis C. Hopkins and Mable Moore Hopkins; and siblings, Herbert Wood Hopkins, Leonard Moore Hopkins, Elizabeth Hopkins and Doris Hopkins Denard.
She is survived by a son-in-law, Dick Carroll of Vidalia; five grandchildren, Jim Carroll and wife Teresa, Kelley Carroll Brown and husband Jeff, Jody Hobbs and wife Shai, Josh Hobbs and Jeff Hobbs; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday afternoon, February 17th, 2026, at 4:30 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with her great-grandson, Jaden Carroll officiating.
