Mrs. Virginia Conner, age 80, of Vidalia, died Friday, March 13, 2020, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after an extended illness. She was a native of Wheeler County and grew up there as a child. Later, she lived in Griffin, Macon, Savannah, and moved to Vidalia in 2003. While in Macon she was a financial counselor at Macon Medical Center. She was a member of the McGregor Presbyterian Church and the Adult Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Theron Conner; two children, Joel Claxton and an infant child; two sisters, Glenda Faye Clark and Janice Lawrence; and a brother, Jerry Pyke.
Mrs. Conner is survived by one son, Greg Claxton and wife Karen of the Kibbee Community; three grandchildren, Hannah Autry and husband Chris of Mt. Vernon, Corey Claxton of Pooler, and Troy Claxton of Mt. Vernon; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Eloise Green of Vidalia; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday morning from 10:00 until just prior to the service.
The funeral service will be held Monday, March 16th, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend David Blalock and Reverend Wayne McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
