Mr. Virgil Lee “Buddy” Patrick, age 78, of Normantown Community, died Sunday, May 7, 2023, at Community Hospice House in Vidalia after an extended illness. He was a native of Palmetto, Florida, moving to Toombs County as a child, and then later moving to Bradenton, Florida. He was a graduate of Southeast High School in Bradenton and later earn a degree in Airframe and Power Plant from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. He worked with Ryder Truck Rentals as a diesel mechanic and retired after twenty-two years of service. After retirement, he returned to Toombs County in 2003. He was a Baptist by faith and he enjoyed reading, growing orchids, working on cars, and was able to design and engineer almost anything he set his mind to. He is preceded in death by his son, Thomas Lee Patrick; parents, Virgil Patrick and Rena Carroll Patrick; and two siblings, Edna Morris and Robert Patrick.
His family includes his wife of fifty-nine years, Connie Hoevener Patrick of Normantown; two children, Leslie Patrick Skrzypek and husband Laslew of Tampa, Florida and James Bradley Patrick and wife Stefanie of Arizona; five grandchildren, Alton, Paulina, Sonia, Veronica and Lydia; and one brother, Jack Patrick and wife Rene of Toombs Central.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
