Mrs. Vickie Helms Fletcher, age 68, of the Center Community, died Friday, March 21, 2025, at Memorial Health in Savannah following a brief illness. She was a native of Toombs County and lived there most of her life. She lived in Hilton Head, South Carolina for many years, and she was a 1975 graduate of Lyons Senior High School. Soon after high school, Vickie joined the Army National Guard, serving two years, and then served in the U.S. Army for six years, stationed in Oklahoma and Alaska. She was City Clerk for the City of Vidalia; she worked for Toombs 911, Mary’s Interiors in Vidalia, and currently was working at Swimmer’s Pool Center in Vidalia. She was a volunteer for Sherry Damron Ministries and was a member of The Sanctuary in Vidalia. She enjoyed plants, flowers, decorating, spending time with family, especially her granddaughter and sisters. Her husband, Terry R. Fletcher; daughter, Erin Fletcher; parents, Joseph Jackson Helms and Connie Lee Davis Helms; and three brothers, Jack, Robert, and J.T. Helms, precede her in death.
Her family includes her granddaughter, Raelyn Grace Threatt of Hampton, South Carolina; seven sisters, Faye Helms Whaley and husband Ray of Oklahoma, Sandra Helms Howell, Rose Helms Braddy and husband Ken, all of Montgomery County, Irma Helms Taylor and husband Richard of Vidalia, Linda Helms of Texas, Gail Helms Gibson and husband Jimmy of Aiken, South Carolina, and Lynn Helms Collins and husband Timmy of Vidalia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be Monday morning, March 24th, 2025, at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Sherry Damron officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday morning from 10:00 until just prior to the service.
