Tom Hamilton

Mr. Tom Hamilton, age 72, of the Center Community, died Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia following an extended illness. He was born on June 1, 1954, in Circleville, Ohio to the late Ralph Eugene Hamilton and Martha Ellen Watkins Hamilton. He grew up in Circleville and was a 1972 graduate of Circleville High School in Circleville, Ohio. Following graduation, Tom briefly served in the U.S. Army and later worked for a roofing company and was also a crane operator in Columbus. He moved to Toombs County in 1982 and immediately started with Lakeview Memorial Gardens and was their cemetery maintenance manager since 1984. He was a mechanic, and he enjoyed fishing, growing vegetables, and classic cars, especially Ford Mustangs. He was an avid Ohio State fan and was always willing to help family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Sonny Ernest Hamilton, Jerry Hamilton, and Bob Hamilton; and brother-in-law, James Young.

Mr. Hamilton is survived by one sister, Patricia “Pat” Hamilton Young of Vidalia; four brothers, Donald Hamilton and wife Vickie of Circleville, Larry Hamilton and wife Pam of Green Cove Springs, Florida, Dale Hamilton and wife Laura of Columbus, Ohio, and Randy Hamilton and wife Vickie of Circleville; long-time friend and co-worker, Tina Galbreath Howell of Center and her children, Chris Howell and Kalli Howell; numerous nieces and nephews, including Chris Young and wife Darleine and Lisa Young Grimm, and good friend, Mike Arnold, all of Vidalia.      

The graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, July 3rd, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Ronnie Stewart officiating.

The family will receive friends at the cemetery at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
