Mrs. Toby Burke O’Neal, age 77, of the McGregor Community, Ailey, died Saturday, November 24, 2018, in Meadows Health in Vidalia, after an extended illness.  She was a native of the Cedar Crossing Community, and was a graduate of Toombs Central High School and Jacksonville Business School in Jacksonville, Florida.  Early in her life, she worked at Altamaha Bank and later with Mt. Vernon Bank.  Toby worked with Montgomery County Correctional Institute in Mt. Vernon for many years and at Brewton-Parker College as Executive Secretary to the President, Dr. Smith, for ten years.  She managed the family farm and was caregiver to numerous family members.  She served as Chairman for the Montgomery County Relay for Life and was actively involved in the Toombs Central Bi-Annual Reunion.  She was a longtime member of the Smyrna United Methodist Church and was a member of the McGregor Presbyterian Church.  Toby was preceded in death by her husband, H.E. O’Neal; a son, Allen B. O’Neal; parents, Jim Howell Burke and Audrey Burgess Burke; and a nephew, Chris Burke.

Mrs. O’Neal is survived by one daughter, Andi O’Neal Alexander and husband Todd of McGregor; two grandchildren, Grace Alexander and Paxton Alexander; one brother, Tommy Burke and wife Teresa of Higgston; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 28th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in the McCrimmon Cemetery near Higgston.     

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 until 8:00.
