Teresa Lynn Phillips (née Dozier), age 57, of Uvalda, Georgia, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025, at her home following a terminal diagnosis of COPD. Born in Orlando, Florida, she lived there briefly before moving to Lyons, Georgia. As a teenager, she grew up in Bonifay, Florida, where she married John Stephen Phillips, and they had one child together. Throughout her life, she moved several times before finally settling in Uvalda, Georgia. Teresa was a proud daughter, woman, and mother. She carried her faith in the Lord and worked hard to create a better life for herself despite the challenges she faced. One of her greatest passions was gardening; she found solace in tending to her flowers and enjoyed the beauty of the birds and butterflies that visited her garden. Teresa, along with her two brothers, was a survivor of their mother's murder in 1981. She was preceded in death by her mother, Carolyn Jean Willis, and her father, James Redman Dozier.
Teresa is survived by her only child, Derick Jonathan Phillips, of Chicago, Illinois; her two brothers, Kenneth Urtis Dozier of Uvalda, Georgia, and Gregory Allen Dozier (details unknown); and her niece, Savannah Caroline Dozier (details unknown).
A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Smyrna Church Cemetery, officiated by a clergy member.
The family will receive friends at the cemetery on Friday afternoon from 2:00 until just prior to the service.
Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home of Vidalia is in charge of arrangements.
