Mr. Steve Lockhart, age 74, of Vidalia, died Sunday, September 3, 2023, at his residence after an extended illness. He was a native of Port Arthur, Texas, living in Toombs County since the early 1980s. Steve was a veteran of the United States Navy and served three tours of duty in Vietnam. He retired from Plant Hatch in 2011 after twenty-seven years as maintenance supervisor. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Vidalia and served on several committees, helped in the children’s department and assisted in the construction of the youth building. He enjoyed being outdoors, doing yard work, drawing, painting, golf and especially spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his son, Anthony Shane White; mother, Eula Mae Daigle; brother-in-law, Danny Henry; sister-in-law, Myra Henry; and father-in-law, W.C. McGowan.
His family includes his wife of thirty-three years, Terri Henry Lockhart of Vidalia; one son, Christopher H. White of Vidalia; mother-in-law, Peggy P. McGowan of Vidalia; brother-in-law, Butch Henry and wife Jan of Soperton; sister-in-law, Ann Stokes and husband Eric of Beverly Hills, Florida; three nieces, Lori Henry Bell of Soperton, Bailey Stokes Knoll of West Richland, Washington and Erin Stokes Conant of Citrus Springs, Florida; great-nieces and great-nephews, Palmer Bell, Rocky Knoll, Evie Knoll, Odin Conant, Gage Bell and wife Brooke, and Jordyn Bell; and special Comfort Care Hospice caregivers, Bridgett, Angie, Amy, Anna and Ariel.
The funeral service will be Thursday afternoon, September 7th at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Mr. Randy McDuffie and Pastor Bobby Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Harmony Baptist Cemetery in Soperton with Military Honors.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
