Stanley Poole

Mr. Stanley Poole, age 68, of Vidalia, died Saturday, August 1, 2026, at his home after a sudden illness. He was a native of Montgomery County and grew up in Uvalda. He was a 1976 graduate of Montgomery County High School and has lived in Vidalia since 1979. He was known as an excellent carpenter, working early in his career with Lake McDonald Construction and later as a superintendent for Harry Moses Construction. He also worked with Copper Construction, but was self-employed the last several years before his retirement. Stanley was a Christian and loved the Lord and was a member of Cedar Crossing Baptist Church. He was an outdoorsman, enjoying quail and deer hunting, fishing at Dead River and the Altamaha, and woodworking, making a variety of things, including birdhouses and wells. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his granddaughter.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer Douglas Poole and Jeanette King Poole.  

Mr. Poole is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Joyce “Sally” Poole of Vidalia; one son, Stuart Poole of Uvalda; one granddaughter, Hannah Poole of Delray, Florida; two sisters, Diane Poole Mahon of Hartford City, Indiana, and Donna Poole Thompson and husband Curt of Lyons; and several nieces and nephews, including Morgan and J.D. Shiver.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday afternoon, August 4th, 2026, at 3:00 at Cedar Crossing Baptist Church with Pastor Reece Mincey officiating. Interment will follow at Dead River Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Cedar Crossing Baptist Church on Tuesday afternoon from 1:30 until just prior to the service.
