Shelia Tapley Sharp, age 69, of Vidalia died Thursday, April 13, 2023, at her home after a sudden illness. She was a native of Toombs County, living in Oak Park for several years, and in the Vidalia area most of her life. She worked for many years at Oxford Industries, Sweat’s BBQ, and Carter’s BBQ. She was an active member at Pendleton Creek Community Church near the Normantown Community, where she served as treasurer. She enjoyed going to church functions, the beach, cleaning, and spending time with her family and church family. She is preceded in death by her father, M.C. Tapley and her stepfather, Wallace Waters.
Her family includes one daughter, Angie Powell Barwick of the Center Community; two granddaughters, Harmony Barwick and fiancé Bryant Poss of Vidalia, and Hailey Barwick of Center; her mother, Joann Waters of Oak Park; six siblings, Lynn Powell and husband Harry of Lyons, Ronnie Waters and wife Marilyn of Normantown, Melvin Tapley of Vidalia, Stacy Davis of Dublin, Kathy Peterson and husband Pete of Gray, and Renee Gault of Vidalia; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral service will be Sunday, April 16th, 3:00 p.m. at the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Roberson officiating. Burial will follow at Waters Cemetery near Normantown.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 1:30 until just prior to the service and will assemble at the residence of Elizabeth McLemore, 2113 Aimwell Road, Vidalia.
