Shelby Jean Rowell

Miss Shelby Jean Rowell, age 88, of Vidalia, died Sunday, March 15, 2026, at The Oaks Bethany in Vidalia following an extended illness. She was born July 19, 1937, in Montgomery County to the late Lloyd R. Rowell and Claudine Calhoun Rowell. She grew up in the Kibbee Community and Vidalia and was a 1955 graduate of Vidalia High School. She lived in Oak Park for several years before returning to Montgomery County in 1964. She worked as administrator for Darby Supply in Vidalia for many years, and she was Baptist by faith.

She is survived by her double first cousin, Sabra Rowell Williamson of Vidalia.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday afternoon, March 18, 2026, at 3:00 at Braddy Cemetery with Dustin Wingard officiating.
