Sharon Denise (Miller) Hodge, 61, of Vidalia, Georgia, peacefully entered into rest surrounded by loved ones on November 24, 2025.
Born on September 24, 1964, in Milledgeville, Georgia, to Moses and Eula (Jimerson) Miller, Sharon spent her early years in Haddock, Georgia. She later graduated high school at Richmond Academy in Augusta, Ga in 1982. She went on to attend Paine College, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 1986.
Sharon devoted more than 30 years to mentoring, teaching, tutoring, and helping others succeed in their education. She loved both math and people, and her dedication to her students was evident in the countless “Hey, Mrs. Hodge!” greetings she received around town. During her time at the alternative school in Vidalia, she worked tirelessly not only to teach but to reach her students’ hearts, guiding them toward becoming the best versions of themselves. Sharon touched countless hearts of many students and teachers.
In 1988, Sharon married the love of her life, David Hodge Sr. Together they built a warm and loving family, centered on devotion to Jehovah. Sharon was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on June 23, 1995, and her love for people fueled her desire to faithfully share the Good News of God’s Kingdom with as many as possible. She was strengthened and comforted by her faith and hope in the resurrection by means of Gods Kingdom and this gave her the “Peace of God that surpasses all understanding”.
Just as her mother Eula, Sharon worked for years, as a hairstylist, with Gloria Price “Pinkey”, a treasured family friend whose close friendship became an even greater source of comfort and connection after her mother’s passing.
Sharon cherished her family and was always ready for a vacation. She enjoyed puzzles, basketball games, board games, and playing cards. Her competitive spirit was strong—she proudly won multiple hands of Rummy 5000 during her stay in the hospital. Sharon was not only a loving and kind wife, mother, sister, aunt, but a wonderful grandmother. She had a presence that would fill any room with joy.
She is survived by her husband, David Hodge Sr.; her sister, Linda Ridely (Darrel) of Gray, Georgia; step father, Leon D (JoJo) Johnson Loris, South Carolina; and her three children, Derrell (Candace) Hodge, David Jr. (Morgan) Hodge, and Deja Hodge, all of Vidalia, Georgia. She also leaves behind five grandchildren—Annalise, Ethan, Annistyn, Ashton, and Levi Hodge; numerous nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews, including one especially dear to her, Chloe Hodge.
Sharon was preceded in death by her father, Moses Miller; her mother, Eula (Jimerson) Miller; and her sister, Tammy Miller.
Sharon will be remembered for her kindness, her strength, her unwavering love for her family, and her lifelong dedication to helping others. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 6th, 2025, at 11:00 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2000 McIntosh St., Vidalia, GA.
Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home of Vidalia is in charge of arrangements.
