Mr. Shannon C. “Hammer” Googe, age 42, of Lyons, died Saturday, July 17, 2021, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident near Uvalda. He was a lifelong resident of Toombs County, and worked with Y2Js Trucking. He was a member of Sons of Smoke and attended the Ohoopee Baptist Church. Shannon loved his family, friends, mud bogging, and riding his bike. He is preceded in death by his grandfather Guyton Googe and his grandmother Lula Bell Thigpen.
Survivors include the love of his life, Rose Shaffer; three children, Donald James, Joseph James, and Vastie James; his mother, Pam Hall; father, Rickey Swain; one brother, Travis Googe and wife Pamela of Lyons; two sisters, Brandy Googe of Lyons and Lenae Braun of Treutlen County; three nephews, Ricky Googe, Carter Googe, and Samuel Herbert; and three nieces, Jazmin Zea, Kayla Sunshine, and Karli Sanford.
The funeral service will be held Friday, July 23rd, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor J.T. Thompson, Johnny McCullough and Michael Clements officiating. Burial will follow in the Ohoopee Community Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00.
