Selena Dunn Obituary

Selena Elizabeth Durden Dunn, 93, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2025.  Selena was born on June 8, 1931, in Tampa, Florida to DeWitt Talmadge Durden and Clara Grace Bailey Durden, they later moved to Hazlehurst, GA.  She married William G. Dunn of Atlanta, GA.  He was WWII veteran and a graduate of Auburn University.  Selena graduated from South Georgia College and Georgia State College for Women.  She attended school for Medical Records Librarians at Emory University Hospital and completed her studies there in September of 1954.  Her last 25 years working was serving as Hospital Administrator at Henrietta Egelston Hospital for Children, which opened in 1928 in Atlanta, GA. Egelston Hospital became a pediatric teaching affiliate of Emory University School of Medicine, Selena took great pride in working there.  After her retirement, she moved to Perdido, Florida to be closer to her brother, DeWitt Talmadge Durden, Jr.  She eventually moved to Azalea Trace for 14 years where she was a resident at Oak Bridge Terrace.

Selena was a woman of many interests! Her favorites were gardening, playing cards, travelling, sewing, active senior hiking, mahjong, and Mexican train. She was a competitive ballroom dancer and even played the mountain dulcimer.

Left to cherish her memory are her special friends, Tim Clarke and Gloria Lockhart.

Funeral Services were held 1:00 pm Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel in Pensacola, Florida with Reverend Bobby Ellisor officiating.  Burial will be on Friday morning, March 28th, 2025 at 11:00 at Pine Crest Cemetery.
