Sandra Denise (Knight) Morris

Mrs. Sandra Denise Knight Morris, age 68, of Ailey, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah. 

Mrs. Morris was born in Sylacauga, Alabama, but moved to various towns while she was growing up due to her father’s work with power plants across the southeast.  Her family eventually settled in Vidalia in 1969 as her father’s work transferred him to Plant Hatch.  Sandra transferred to Vidalia High School beginning her 8th grade year, where she met her future husband, William, and she graduated from VHS in 1974.  While in high school, she worked at the local Zippy Mart and then at Chapman Pharmacy until graduating and marrying William in June 1974. 

Sandra moved with her husband to the Woodstock, Georgia area where she gained employment with Alcan Cable Corporation.  She worked for Alcan for 32 years starting out as a clerical secretary, working her way up to a Customer Service Representative position, to an Account Manager, then an outside sales Manager position.  She finished out several years of her career as a one of the first women at Alcan to ever acquire the position as a Regional Sales Manager.  As one of her bosses stated, “Sandra had grit, determination and was motivated to be the best at whatever assignment Alcan delegated to her.”  She is preceded in death by her parents, Donald A. Knight and Sue Doss Knight.

Her family includes her husband of 50 plus years, William H. Morris, Jr. of Ailey; one daughter, Kara Orleck and husband Paul of Woodstock; two sisters, Loretta Yike of Kennesaw and Tina Jones of Vidalia; one brother, Wayne Knight and wife Deborah of Rincon; and several nieces and nephews. 

A Celebration of Life service will be Saturday morning, February 22, 2025, at 11:00 in the chapel at the Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home chapel on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until just prior to the service.
