Miss Ruth R. Wilson, age 83, of Lyons, died Sunday, December 22, 2024, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, following an extended illness. Born on August 25, 1941, to the late William Louis “W.L.” Wilson and Eugenia Rosier Wilson, she moved to Toombs County as a child and lived in Lyons most of her life. She was a 1959 graduate of Lyons High School, and attended Brewton-Parker College and Georgia Southern College, earning an Associate degree. Ruth began her career at the Lyons Progress in the mid 1960s and worked there until the early 1990s. She was a member of the Lyons Community Church. Ruth enjoyed her friends at Chatters where she was a regular attendee, and she was an avid Toombs County football, Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Falcons fan. In addition to her parents, a brother, Billy Wilson; and a nephew, Christopher Clark, preceded her in death.
Her family includes one sister, Becky Wilson Rhodes; one brother, Richard “Dick” Wilson; one sister-in-law, Peggy Mays Wilson, all of Vidalia; and five nieces and nephews, Cynthia McLain and husband Jeff of Vidalia, Benjamin Wilson and wife Holly of Shenyang, China, Jason Clark and wife Trish of Belmont, California, Courtney “Bill” Wilson, Chief Legalman, USN of Drummonds, Tennessee, and Kevin Clark and wife Jan of Vidalia.
A graveside funeral service will be Friday afternoon, December 27, 2024, at 3:00 at Wilson Cemetery near Higgston, with Pastor Brian Durden officiating.
