Mr. Russell Morris, age 67, of Vidalia, died Saturday, November 18, 2023, after an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Toombs County. Early in his life, he worked with Piggly Wiggly Southern Warehouse, and later he worked with his brother at Clearwater Pool. He was a carpenter and worked with Jerry Owens Construction and DMT Construction in Dublin. He attended Soperton Church of God and he loved animals, enjoyed reading, working on race cars at dirt tracks, and spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilmot “Pete” Morris and Nina Willis Morris; one brother, Scotty Morris; and one sister, Marilyn Morris.
His family includes one daughter, Peggy Morris Cooper and husband Wesley of Vidalia; one son, Ronnie McGahee and wife Brenda of Soperton; one sister, Peggy Corbin and husband Donald of Lyons; one brother, Jerry Morris and wife Bobbie Jean of Lyons; two grandchildren, MaKayla Rushing and husband “Jonas” of Lyons and Britt Cooper of Vidalia; former wife, Jackie Miller and husband Mike of Kibbee; sister-in-law, Betty Brooks and husband Mike of Richmond Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home on Wednesday morning, November 22nd, from 10:00 until just prior to the funeral service at 11:00 with Pastor Greg Lowery officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery.
