Mr. Rudy C. Nanney, age 66, of Vidalia, died Wednesday, August 14, 2019, in Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, after a brief illness. He was a native of Toombs County, where he lived most of his life and was a 1971 graduate of Vidalia High School. He lived in Montgomery County for twenty-seven years and retired from Georgia Power as a lineman after thirty-one years. He was a member and Past Master of Lyons Masonic Lodge #49 and Past President of the Quint Shrine Club in Lyons. He was a Scottish Rite and York Rite Mason, a member of the Montgomery County Sharp Shooters and was Baptist by faith. He enjoyed working in his yard and was an avid genealogist for his family and for others. He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace Dewey Nanney and Hazel Ailene Moseley Nanney; and a special cousin, Linda Rhodes.
Mr. Nanney is survived by one sister, Wanda Nanney; one brother, Ricky Nanney and fiancée Barbara Keel, all of Vidalia; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, including two special cousins, Deborah Williams and Shelia Engle, both of Salley, South Carolina, and his 2 most special loves, his fur babies Sophie and Emma.
The funeral service will be held Friday, August 16th, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Clint Hutcheson and Elder Jerry Lightsey officiating. Burial will follow in the Sharpe Cemetery near Alston.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
