Ruby Joyce (Fulmer) McKenzie

Mrs. Ruby Joyce Fulmer McKenzie age 85, of Vidalia died Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia following an extended illness.  She was a native of Toombs County, living in Vidalia all of her life, and she was a 1957 graduate of Vidalia High School.  She worked at Paul Anderson Home and the First United Methodist Church of Vidalia for many years.  She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church of Vidalia and is current member of Liberty Baptist Church in Lyons. She delighted in playing the piano at several churches and in nursing homes.  She enjoyed gardening yard work, riding motorcycles, cooking, fishing with her husband, and traveling, especially to the mountains.  She is preceded in death by her husband of thirty-nine years, Thereon McKenzie; parents, Walter Hudson Fulmer and Mattie Belew Fulmer, daughter-in-law, Sandy McKenzie, and the grandparents that raised her, Ruby and Walter Fulmer.

Her family includes her children, Sherrie Helms and husband, Dewey of Vidalia, Terrie Anderson and husband, Tommy of Pass Christian, Mississippi, Michelle McKenzie Brown of Lyons, Jerrie McKenzie and Brian Keegan of Lyons, and Matt McKenzie and wife Caroline of Jacksonville, Florida, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Saturday afternoon, March 15th, 2025, at 2:00 at Liberty Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Plowman officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
