Obituary
Mr. Ruben Garcia Valdez, Sr., age 88, of Lyons, died Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at his residence after an extended illness. He was a native of Texas and lived there most of his life until moving to Lyons in 2022. He worked in construction and was Catholic by faith. He enjoyed fishing, especially saltwater fishing. He loved lottery tickets, but loved spending time with his family most of all. Mr. Valdez is preceded in death by his wife of twenty-five years, Rose Rangel; three sons, Ruben Garcia Valdez, Jr., Raul Valdez and Pete Valdez; one daughter, Gloria Valdez; parents, Benito Valdez and Maria De Jesus; and eight siblings.
His family includes his daughter, Linda Garcia of Lyons; twenty-two grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The graveside funeral service will be Saturday, May 13th at 11:00 a.m. at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home Friday evening, May 12th from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
