Mr. Royce Edward Dismuke, age 78, of Oak Park, died Saturday, June 29, 2024, at East Georgia Medical Center in Statesboro, after a brief illness. He was a native of Oak Park, living there all of his life, and was a 1963 graduate of Oak Park High School. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War where he was an airplane mechanic. He was a carpenter and worked at Chickasha in Vidalia, Edwin I Hatch Plant, BE&K Construction and ITS Construction in Savannah. He was a member of The Rock Worship Center in Stillmore. Royce loved his country music, played guitar, and was passionate about motorcycles and rode frequently. He enjoyed fishing, and could build about anything out of wood, giving much of his work to family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert Edward Dismuke and Mattie Irene Fowler Dismuke; brother, Gerald Dean Dismuke; sister, Rose Ellen Dismuke Oglesby; the mother of his children, Judith Ann Dismuke; and a brother-in-law, Garland Kerr.
His family includes his wife of fifteen years, Catherine Shumaker Dismuke; five children, Dwayne Damron and wife Sherry, Tony Dismuke and wife Sherry, Robin Dismuke and wife Bracey, Candace Dismuke Hutcheson and husband Clint, and Todd Dismuke and wife Julie, all of Oak Park; two stepsons, Harold Coble and wife Shannon of Tennessee, and Manny Coble and wife Marcia of Pennsylvania; one brother, Danny Dismuke and wife Bennie Faye of Oak Park; one sister, Ina Dismuke Kerr of Soperton; twenty grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Wednesday morning, July 3rd, at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Clint Hutcheson and Pastor Robert Beckum officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 9:30 until just prior to the service.
