Mr. Roy Fountain, Sr., age 71, of Wheeler County, died Wednesday, June 10, 2020, in Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin from injuries sustained in an accident at his home. He was a native of Vidalia and lived there until moving to Wheeler County nineteen years ago. He retired as captain with the Vidalia Fire Department after fifteen years. Later, he worked with his father Howard, and brother Ray, in Fountain Construction. He attended the Landsburg United Methodist Church in Wheeler County, and he enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening and raising chickens. He was preceded in death by a son, Brad Fountain; parents, Howard Lee Fountain and Mary Nabb Fountain; two brothers, Edmond Kramer and Ray Fountain.
Mr. Fountain is survived by his wife, Betty Dixon Fountain; one son, Roy Fountain, Jr.; three step-sons, Mike Dixon and wife Maria, Paul Dixon, and Marty Dixon and wife Debbie, all of Wheeler County; two sisters, Pat McCoy Nail and husband Andy of the Center Community, and Julie Fountain Screws and husband Robert of Lyons; one sister-in-law, Laura Fountain of Treutlen County; five step-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, June 12th, at 11:00 a.m. in the Pinecrest Cemetery with Reverend Lee Pettis officiating.
