Mr. Ronald Page (Ron) Brooks, age 82, of Vidalia, died Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Meadows Park Health & Rehab in Vidalia. Ron was born and raised in the countryside just north of Glenwood, Georgia. His childhood was a country boy’s dream. He was surrounded by woods, creeks, dogs and three brothers to keep things interesting. Soon after graduating from Glenwood High School in 1963, he joined the U.S. Army and was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War where he earned many honors. After being honorably discharged, he moved to Atlanta and began a lifelong career in sales. He returned to his roots in 1978, and a few years later made Vidalia his home with his wife Bobbie. Ron continued his career in sales with various companies until he found what he called his true purpose in work. He founded Brooks Insurance Company in 2010. Ron often said that helping senior citizens navigate their way through Medicare was the most rewarding work he had ever done. He really enjoyed helping people and developed many devoted clients and friends.
Ron always loved cars and owned a couple of classics like a customized 1955 Chevy and a 1962 Corvette that is still in the family today. He was also an expert marksman and mastered weapons of every type, size and caliber. In his younger years he was quite a dog fancier and once owned a registered Old English Sheepdog named Honeyboy Shaggyshoes McCabe. And to say he was a fan of FOX News is a huge understatement. Ron was outgoing, friendly and kind to everyone he ever met and will be deeply missed by his family and his many, many friends and neighbors.
Ron is preceded in death by a daughter, Alecia Brooks Olsen; parents, Ralph P. Brooks and Hazel W. Brooks; and a brother, Gregory J. Brooks.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Barbara Ann Clark Brooks of Vidalia; one son, Ronald Page Brooks, Jr. and wife Samantha, and their three children Reis, Ivy and Caleb, all of Jefferson; two brothers, his twin Rodney R. Brooks of Glenwood, and Anthony (Tony) Brooks and wife Carol of Vidalia; the mother of his children, Patsy R. Brooks; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, July 29th, 2025, at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Wayne Durden officiating. Interment will follow at Edge Memorial Gardens in Glenwood.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 10:00 until just prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers and food, memorial donations are suggested to the Community Hospice Foundation, PO Box 2277, Vidalia, GA 30475.
Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home of Vidalia is in charge of arrangements.
