Ronald Stephens, beloved husband, father, and Papa, passed away on November 13, 2025, at home under the care of Community Hospice after an extended illness. He was born on February 23, 1945, to Lent and Annie Pearl Atkins Stephens. He lived all his life in Toombs County and was a 1963 graduate of Lyons High School. Ronald was a member of North Thompson Baptist Church, and attended Higgston Baptist Church when he was able. He worked on the family farm, until starting at Piggly Wiggly in 1978. He started driving a truck for Piggly Wiggly in 1981 and was one of the last two drivers on staff when the Vidalia DC closed. He later drove for Ryder and Trane before medically retiring at 77 years old.
In addition to his parents, Ronald is preceded in death by his in-laws Aaron and Helen Lynn, his brother James Stephens, his sisters-in-law Elma Stephens and Patricia Stephens, and his nephew Jamie Stephens.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Susan Stephens, daughters Denise and Christy Stephens, and granddaughter Maribeth Stephens. Also surviving are his brothers Reggie Stephens, Edward Stephens, and Allen (Tonya) Stephens, his sister Jeannine (William) King, and his brother and sister-in-law Steve and Teresa Lynn along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Ronald enjoyed sitting in his porch swing, playing Sudoku, cutting grass, drinking coffee at the Huddle House, and supporting anything in which his daughters or granddaughter were involved. He will be greatly missed by his family, though we are thankful that he is fully healed in Heaven.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 and at other times at the Lynn Home at 806 Orange Street.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday afternoon, November 16, 2025, at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Murray Ward officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff of Community Hospice for their excellent support and care of Ronald and the family during his illness.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions can be made to Community Hospice Foundation, PO Box 2277, Vidalia, GA 30475.
