Mr. Rodney Clifton, age 70, of Vidalia, died Friday, November 7, 2025, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia following an extended illness.
He was a native of Toombs County, growing up in Lyons and Cobbtown, living in Vidalia most of his life and was a 1973 graduate of Lyons Senior High School. He retired from Piggly Wiggly Southern as a truck driver and later was owner/operator of his own truck. Rodney was a member of Vidalia Advent Christian Church; and he enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and woodworking.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Myrtie Marie Willis Sikes; father, Carl Clifton; grandmother who raised him, Mary Melissa Fields Clifton; and sister, Felicia Finch.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Bridgett Hutcheson Clifton of Vidalia; two sons, Shane Clifton and Allison Holton of Tarrytown, and T.J. Clifton his fiancé Lisa Bivins, and her daughter Tesla; two grandchildren, Colton Clifton and Natalie Clifton and boyfriend, Peyton Mixon; one sister, Lecia Clifton Burton of Lyons; one uncle, Earl Clifton and wife Ruth of Atlanta; eight brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Cherry Hughes and husband Seab, Vickie Messex all of Vidalia, Joann Hutcheson of Emanuel County, Jay Hutcheson and wife Sharon of the South Thompson Community, Stacey Hutcheson and wife Sandra, Chad Hutcheson and wife Melissa, Clint Hutcheson and wife Candace, all of Oak Park, and Travis Hutcheson and wife Angela of Monroe, North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Vidalia Advent Christian Church on Monday evening, November 10, 2025, from 6:00 until 8:00.
The funeral service will be on Tuesday afternoon, November 11, 2025, at 2:00 at Vidalia Advent Christian Church with Pastor Clint Hutcheson and Pastor Travis Hutcheson officiating. Interment will follow at Hutcheson Cemetery in Treutlen County.
