Mr. Robert Eugene “Bobby” Yarbrough, age 91, of Vidalia, died Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia following an extended illness. Mr. Bobby was born on August 19, 1935, in Cumming, Georgia to the late George Eugene “Gene” Yarbrough and Hannah Jane Echols Yarbrough. He served in the Army Reserves for more than 10 years. He graduated high school, earned an associate degree and lived in the Atlanta area before moving to Vidalia in 2003. He retired after many years from Sutter, McLellan & Gilbert Insurance Company and also served as the company president. He was a member of Atlanta First United Methodist Church and John’s Creek United Methodist Church, and is a member of Vidalia Cornerstone Church. Mr. Bobby served as a Georgia High School Official for ten years, and he was an avid golfer.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of forty-four years, Nan Ellen Elkins Yarbrough; and a son, Robert Steven Yarbrough.
He is survived by one sister, Joyce Yarbrough Barrett and husband Buddy of Talking Rock, Georgia; one daughter, Cindy Freeman and husband Chris of Smyrna; two grandchildren, Coty Yarbrough of Beloit, Wisconsin, and Kayleigh Yarbrough of Ft. Knox, Tennessee; three great-grandchildren; cousin, Jim Tidwell; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Marilyn Johnson and Maggie Brice Snell.
As per his wishes, there will be no services.
