Robert "Bobby" Carter

Mr. Robert “Bobby” Carter, age 62, of Ailey, died Saturday, December 20, 2025, at his home after a sudden illness. He was a native of Montgomery County, living near Ailey the majority of his life, and he attended Montgomery County High School. He was a log truck driver most of his life, working with Harry Fountain, Ken Shepard, and Doug Story Logging, and was currently a supervisor with Carter Dredging Company in Wayne County. Bobby enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he had a knack of being able to repair almost anything.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Haley Michelle Carter; parents, Clyde Carter and Delorice “Bill” Taylor Carter; and brother, Steve Carter.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-four years, Connie McDaniel Carter of Ailey; two children, Kevin Harper and wife Vanessa of Baxley, and Stephanie Horton and husband Michael of Higgston; and six grandchildren, Caitlin Horton, Emily Horton, Kameron Harper, Kirstin Harper, Kaiden Harper, and Cainan Horton.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday morning, December 23rd, 2025, at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Albert White officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 10:00 until just prior to the service.

Pallbearers are Justin Bennett, Griffith Campbell, Michael Elliott, Kaiden Harper, Tyler Moore, and Carter Stewart.
