Rita Sue Chambers Beard, age 75, of Glenwood, died Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Glenwood Health & Rehab following an extended illness. She was a native of Wheeler County and lived in Glenwood most of her life. She attended Glenwood High School and was a graduate of a cosmetology school in Dublin. She was a licensed cosmetologist, was owner of Rita’s Beauty Shop in Glenwood for more than forty years, and was a self-employed tax preparer for twenty-five years. She enjoyed cross-stitching, antiquing, genealogy, and going to yard sales. She is preceded in death by her former husband, James McRae, Jr.; parents, Roscoe Robert Chambers and Clyde Horne Chambers; and two brothers, Michael Chambers and Benny Chambers.
Her family includes her husband, Armondo Aviles of Glenwood; two children, Natalie McRae of Glenwood, and Jamie McRae and wife Shan of Jesup; four grandchildren, Landon Pickle and Brianna Pickle of Glenwood, Cody McRae of Jesup and Cierra Rollins of Lyons; three sisters, Wylene Farris of Idaho, Peggy Smith, and Ann Fulford, both of Allentown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be no service.
