Ms. Rhonda Williams, age 66, of Swainsboro, died Friday, November 6, 2020, at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro after an extended illness. She was a native of Uvalda, a 1972 graduate of Montgomery County High School and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia Southern College in Statesboro. She began her teaching career in Vidalia and taught most of her career in Emanuel County. The Emanuel County School Superintendent told Rhonda that she was the most requested and sought after teacher in the school system. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Swainsboro, and she enjoyed reading and yard work.
Survivors include one son, Jonathan Clifton and wife Brandi of Claxton; her parents, Nollie and Billy Williams of Uvalda; one sister, Debbie Williams Palmer and husband Al of Statesboro; two grandchildren, Rowan Clifton and Maddox Clifton; one niece, Mary Lee Palmer of Atlanta; two nephews, Harrison Palmer of Golden, Colorado, and Brennan Palmer and wife Katlyn of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and one great nephew, Brooks Palmer.
A graveside funeral service will be held Sunday, November 8th, at 3:30 p.m. in the Uvalda City Cemetery with Reverend Branden Williams and Candi Newton officiating.
