Ms. Charla Renee Culpepper, age 69, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025 at Community Hospice in Vidalia. A lifelong resident of Lyons, Georgia, she was one of five daughters born to the late Warren and Ellen Culpepper. She attended school in the Toombs County School System, and was a 1973 graduate of Lyons Senior High School, where she served as senior class president. She was musically inclined playing the saxophone in the Lyons Senior High Redcoat Band, and she taught herself how to play the trumpet. She was a loving aunt and sister, and was known for her huge heart. She was always giving to those in need. Even though she had no children of her own, she adored her nieces and nephews, and thought of them as her own children. She also claimed all of the numerous children she taught in school as her own. Her greatest joy was attending school events, activities, and ballgames of her nieces and nephews, and traveling with her family.
Renee received a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree in 1977 and a Master's Degree in Education from Georgia Southern University in 1989. She received her Education Specialist Degree from Troy State University in 1999. She taught for 39 years in the Toombs County School System before her retirement. Having taught numerous subjects, she was named Teacher of the Year twice and Educator of the Year. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lyons.
Survivors include special nieces Cari Campbell Crews (Dently), Courtney Campbell Edenfield (Tyler), Mallory Jordan, and Morgan Jordan Clifton (Clay); special great nephews and niece Camden Crews, Ellie Edenfield, and Reid Clifton; sisters Sabrina Campbell, Stephanie Jordan, Pam Anderson (Ronny) and Sonya Cooler (Jerry). Several other relatives also survive.
