Mr. Raymond P. Carroll, Sr. age 73, of the Charlotteville Community in Montgomery County, died Monday, January 13, 2025, at Appling Healthcare in Baxley after a sudden illness. He was born March 29, 1951, in Toombs County to the late Howard Melgron Carroll and Tiny Maud Thompson Carroll. He grew up in Vidalia and was a 1969 graduate of Vidalia High School. Raymond moved to Cedar Crossing in 2004 and to Charlotteville eight years ago. He lived in Wadley for a short time, working as a meat cutter and firefighter. He dedicated his life in service to others; he was an EMT, later becoming a paramedic, working at Kings Bay while he was living in Brunswick. He served for several years as EMS Director for Toombs/Montgomery before his retirement in 2016. He attended Cedar Crossing Church of God, and he enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR, and going to tractor pulls. In addition to his parents, a sister, Susan Carroll Kingsley, precedes him in death.
His family includes his wife, Cindy Geiger Carroll of Charlotteville; one son, Paul Carroll, Jr. of East Dublin; two stepsons, Tony Thompson and wife Crystal of Higgston, and Matt Thompson and wife Starr of Cedar Crossing; ten grandchildren, Justice, Rhyland, Raleigh, Ethan, Raegan, Cole, Drew, Ronnie, Miles, and Maggie; two great-grandchildren, Payton and Perry Kate; and one niece, Dixie Rafuse and husband Eddie of Tennessee.
A memorial service will be Friday morning, January 17th, 2025, at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Steven Toole and Pastor Reece Mincey officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday morning from 10:00 until just prior to the service.
