Mr. Ray E. Phillips, age 62, of Lyons, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home, on February 16, 2026, after an extended illness. He was born on December 5, 1963, in Jesup, Georgia. He lived his life in Toombs County and was a truck driver for over 40 years. He was a mechanic, a carpenter, and a jack of all trades. His life was filled with adventure and a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed camping and fishing, but mostly he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Jewell and Raybon Phillips; brother, Raybon Phillips, Jr.; sister, Diane Frost; and a baby sister, Sharon Phillips.
He is survived by his beloved wife of forty years, Barbara Phillips and three children, son, Ray “Chucky” Phillips and fiancé Becky O’Neal of Vidalia, daughter, Sarah Scott and husband Marion of Warner Robins and stepdaughter, Beth Fisher and husband Lonnie of Fairfield, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren, Rayley Phillips, Micah Bruno, Gavin Welborn, Scarlett Hanbury, Bryce Scott, Isaiah O’Conner and Kennedy McDannell; sister, Deborah Barnard of Lyons; brother, Tommy Phillips and wife Jennipher of Maclenny, Florida; best friend, Chris Harrison; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was a good husband, a great father, and a wonderful papa. He was good man. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
