Mr. Randy Harold Sears, age 73, of Hephzibah, died Monday, January 19, 2026, at Wellstar Health System in Augusta, following a lengthy illness. He was a native of Toombs, growing up in Vidalia and was a 1970 graduate of Vidalia High School where developed a lifelong love of basketball. He started a career in nuclear energy in the maintenance department at Edwin I. Hatch Plant and later worked in quality control in the engineering department. Randy transferred to Alvin W. Vogtle Electric Generating Plant in Waynesboro and worked in nuclear energy for twenty years. In 1991, he started at Savannah River Site, retiring after twenty-three years as a senior engineering specialist. He was Methodist by faith. Randy’s focus on life was his family, everything revolved around them. He continued to love basketball and most was astounded that he could play and keep up with high school kids when he was in his 60s. He enjoyed baseball, coaching both sons in little league baseball in Augusta, and he enjoyed water skiing in his younger years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold Sears and Earlene Joyce Sears Drake; and brother–in-law, Tom Votau.
